It depends on the size of your business and how much quality management you already have in place — a company holding ISO 9001 starts well ahead of one building from scratch. We don't quote a generic timeframe. At the initial gap analysis your consultant maps exactly what's needed and gives you a clear, fixed timeline you can plan around.
What's the relationship between ISO 9001 and AS9100?＋
AS9100 fully contains ISO 9001 and adds aerospace and defence-specific requirements on top — risk management, configuration control, first-article inspection, counterfeit-parts prevention and product safety. If you already hold ISO 9001 you meet the base, and we build the additional aerospace layer over it. If you don't, we build both at once.
Do we need AS9100 to supply Australian defence primes?＋
In most cases, yes. Defence primes, airframers and their tier-one suppliers list AS9100 as a mandatory approved-supplier requirement. It's frequently a pass/fail condition on tenders and RFQs, so certification opens work that's otherwise closed to you.
Who awards the certificate?＋
An independent certification body accredited by JAS-ANZ — not IMSM. We build your management system and prepare you for assessment; the accredited body carries out the audit and issues the certificate, which keeps it credible and recognised across the supply chain.
